If you're going to downtown Chicago, you will get off the Chicagoland Shuttle at the Calumet Metra Rail station. The Metra Rail allows you to relax, avoid the congestion and unruly drivers, and to simply have fun. The Calumet Metra station is safe, clean, and open 24 hours. There are dedicated Transit Police present at all times. The wait time from departing the Chicagoland Shuttle and the departure of the Metra Rail going to Millennium Station is approximately ten minutes. There is just enough time to stretch your legs, buy your ticket, and find your seat.
The Metra Rail system is the high speed commuter rail into Downtown Chicago. The ride will take approximately 40 minutes. The fare is around five dollars between Calumet and Millennium Station and best of all, you don't have to pay for parking! On weekends and holidays, Metra's Family Fares allow kids 11 and under to ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying adult.
Millennium Station, directly underneath Millennium Park, is within walking distance of numerous hotels, restaurants, and designer shopping. Just a short walk down the street is the beautiful, historic, InterContinental Hotel, a partner with GO Express Travel, where you can save 15% on your reservation by booking through our website.
On Sunday, when you return to Bloomington, you can take the Metra Rail back to the Calumet Station and catch the Chicagoland Shuttle.
